Department of Continence/Urodynamics

The Department of continence/urodynamics provides a facility for the treatment, diagnosis and care of patients with conditions of the bladder/bowel.
In the department we:

• Perform diagnostic tests e.g. Urodynamic Studies and Ano- rectal Manometry studies for the patient with bladder/bowel dysfunction.
  
• Provide education, advice and information for the children and their parents requiring bladder/bowel treatments for congenital bladder/bowel anomalies.
  
• Perform treatments, procedures on children with bladder/bowel dysfunction.
  
• Provide a drop-in service for children and their parents attending Our Lady's Hospital for advice about further treatment options available, to discuss any difficulties with present treatments and perform evaluation of treatments already in use.
  
• Arrange admission dates, surgery dates, follow up and continuing care for children with bladder/bowel dysfunction.

Referrals to the urodynamics department are through the consultant Urologist, Surgeons and Nephrologist.
